Ernestine Shepherd proves that you are never too old to do something. She is a case in point that age is just a number.
Ernestine Shepherd, the strongest female bodybuilder, recently turned 81. Have you even seen a meme that shows two elderly women, one constrained in a chair, whereas the other one fit and standing up, seeming happy? This inspiring woman is Ernestine herself.
She is not like other elders. Namely, she is the oldest female bodybuilder, who holds a record in the Guinness Book of World Records. However, she was not a bodybuilder all her life. She started exercising when she was 56 years old.
Ernestine Shepherd was born on 16th of June, 1936 in Baltimore. She looked after her sister, who died from a brain aneurysm. Then, Ernestine decided to take care of her health. She was suffering from high blood pressure, so she had to make some necessary lifestyle changes.
Now, Ernestine wakes up at 3 a.m. in the morning, runs 80 miles per week, follows a low-calorie diet rich in chicken, boiled eggs, vegetables and drinks plenty of water. If you ask her what her real secret of success was, she will say that it was to ‘never give up’.
The video below shows the remarkable story of Ernestine Shepherd, the 81-year-old bodybuilder.
